Calling all Europeans (and Europhiles)!

Watch the Eurovision Song Contest live on the big screen with us Saturday May 11th! Kicking off at 3pm, get ready for an afternoon of weird performances, wacky costumes, and Europop bangers in the name of European camaraderie.

No idea what we’re talking about? No worries! We know many Americans don’t keep up with what goes on on the other side of the pond, but in Europe, the Eurovision Song Contest is kind of a big deal. Here’s a crash course:

– The Eurovision Song Contest is an annual song contest where each European country (as well as Australia and Israel…why?) is represented by an artist/group performing an original song.

– Only 26 countries makes it to the Grand Final where the competing countries cast votes to determine a winner.

– The contest takes place in the nation of the previous winner. This year is the 68th edition and will be held in Malmö, Sweden.

– Outrageous outfits, over-the-top antics, and drag show-esque performances have made it a favorite in the international LGBTQ+ community.

– In Eurovision, more is more, and weird will get you far. Expect a lot of “WTF?” moments as the countries battle for the trophy.

If the performances aren’t entertainment enough, we’ll play Eurovision Bingo. Pay attention and win a beer on the house!
