From Lab to Lager Science Night

On Saturday, April 5 from 6pm-10pm, Steel String Brewery (106A S Greensboro St. Carrboro, NC 27510) will be hosting an event for members of the public, elected local officials, local K12 students, and local scientists.

There will be several talks:

Keynote Speaker Angelique Allen (University of Oregon Researcher, HHMI Gilliam Fellow) will cover her journey in STEM, her research, and her passion for science outreach, Steel String’s Brewer (Will Isley) will cover the science of brewing and community, and a local leukemia researcher at UNC will talk about their insights on the mechanisms of pediatric leukemia. There will be a release of a new beer and non-alcoholic seltzer with label showcasing research facts from the lab. Proceeds will go to an organization supporting pediatric leukemia research.
