Like most of you, we are deeply saddened seeing the destruction that Hurricane Harvey has wrought on south eastern Texas. Our heart goes out to those displaced and those who have lost everything in the storm’s relentless rains. For the rest of the week, until we close on Sunday, we will donate 10% of our taproom sales to Farm Aid’s Family Farm Disaster Relief Fund, to aid in the recovery of farmers who have lost their livelihoods to Harvey. Farmers are intimately tied to our climate in ways most of us are shielded from, we must have their back in times of crisis. We encourage you to donate if you are able.

We are super excited to announce a new project in partnership with Triangle Land Conservancy –
Beers From Here is a series of foraging walks in Triangle Land Conservancy preserves, free and open to the public. On each walk, we will learn about responsible and safe foraging and collect ingredients to be used in a unique beer inspired by the walk. Steel String is one of 4 Triangle craft beverage producers participating, the others include Mystery Brewing Company, Fullsteam Brewery, and Chatham Cider Works. Each producer will donate a percentage of the sales from their foraged beverage directly to TLC to support their mission of protecting and promoting community stewardship of our natural habitat.
Our walk is scheduled for Saturday, September 16th from 2-4pm at Brumley Forest in Chapel Hill. Registration will be required and space on the walks is limited.
For a complete schedule of the walks check out our FB event page. #ncbeer #craftbeer #beersfromhere #foraging
We are partnering with the Triangle Land Conservancy and some of the areas best craft beverage producers to lead guided foraging walks through TLC preserves in the Triangle. Join us(Steel String) on Saturday, September 16 from 2-4 PM at Irvin Nature Preserve for a guided walk, we will learn about native plants and how to responsibly forage for them. We will then use some of the foraged plants in a unique brew, a portion the sales will be donated to TLC to support their efforts of preserving the wild spaces around the Triangle.
We are very excited to partner with Amanda and Elizabeth of Piedmont Picnic Project, local foraging experts, who will be helping us plan and facilitate the walks.
The walks are free and open to the public, but space is limited. Sign ups will be available soon! Donations will be accepted to help compensate our awesome forager partners!
For a full schedule see the main Beers From Here event page
Beers From Here – A collaboration between local beverage producers and the Triangle Land Conservancy. Each participant will lead foraging walks through nearby TLC preserves and produce a unique beverage inspired by and utilizing ingredients collected during the walk.
The four participants are Steel String, Fullsteam Brewery, Mystery Brewing Company, and Chatham Cider Works. Each producer has agreed to donate a portion of their sales from their beverage directly to TLC to support their efforts of managing and protecting wild spaces around the Triangle.
We will host a ticketed banquet in the evening on Nov 11th at TLC’s Irvin preserve in Chapel Hill. This will be your chance to try each of these unique brews accompanied by food from local chefs. More information on the banquet coming soon!
We are excited to partner with nice folks at Piedmont Picnic Project who will help guide the walks and provide plenty of information of on plant identification and responsible, safe foraging practices.
